Common questions

How do the trial and subscriptions work?

CalmPaw Plus offers monthly and yearly plans. Eligible Apple Accounts can receive a seven-day introductory trial when the App Store offers it. The trial starts only after you confirm with Apple and renews into the selected paid plan unless cancelled. The App Store displays the actual price, duration, and eligibility. One introductory offer is available per subscription group, not per pet.

How do I cancel or restore a purchase?

In CalmPaw Plus, choose Manage or cancel subscription, or open Apple’s subscription settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or current period ends to avoid renewal. Cancelling does not immediately end the current entitlement. To restore, use Restore purchases with the purchasing Apple Account. Apple handles billing and refund requests; app support cannot issue App Store refunds. Apple’s cancellation help and refund requests are available online.

What happens to my records after Plus expires?

Your saved journal is not deleted. Existing records, exports, complete backups and restore, existing reminders, shared-access management, and emergency timing remain available. Ordinary daily recording and medication planning require an active subscription. A free pet profile can be created for emergency timing.

Why did a reminder not appear?

Open Settings → Reminders in CalmPaw to review permission, enable care reminders, and check the next scheduled reminder when enabled. In iOS, check notification permission, previews, Focus, and sound settings. Local notifications work offline after scheduling, but the app must be opened to refresh future reminders. They are not guaranteed alarms or a replacement for your care plan.

How do I add a Home Screen widget?

Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, choose Edit → Add Widget, and search for CalmPaw. Choose a small or medium widget. Touch and hold the widget and select Edit Widget to choose a pet. Open CalmPaw to refresh its snapshot. Apple controls when widgets update; rely on reminders rather than the widget for time-sensitive alerts. Hide pet and medication details in CalmPaw’s widget settings if needed.

Why is an iCloud invitation not working?

Both caregivers need to be signed into iCloud. Ask the owner for the current Apple iCloud sharing invitation; an old custom app link is not an authorization to join. Open the invitation or paste it into Join a shared journal. Check Care team & sharing for errors or conflicts. Family changes sync while CalmPaw is active; local entries remain available if sharing fails. Do not post invitation links publicly.

Why does another caregiver’s name look different?

CalmPaw uses the name provided by Apple when available, then an explicitly saved caregiver name or a neutral role label. Apple may not provide a full account name for every participant. A missing name is not evidence that a journal failed to sync.

How do I back up or move a journal?

Use Journal backups & restore to export a complete per-pet JSON backup with record identities and included photos, then restore it through the system file picker. The complete backup limit is 50 MB. CSV and PDF exports are useful reports but are not complete journal backups. Keep the old installation until all records and photos are verified. Changing the app’s Bundle ID creates a separate installation; existing local files are not automatically moved.

How do I remove records or stop sharing?

Back up important records first. Archiving keeps records; it does not delete them. Manage local records in Pets & profiles and data management. Manage recipients and permissions separately in Care team & sharing. Deleting a local journal does not erase cloud or exported copies, and stopping sharing does not remove copies already held by another caregiver. Contact support if you need help finding the right controls.

Can CalmPaw diagnose my pet or adjust medication?

No. CalmPaw records and summarizes information; it does not diagnose, recommend treatment, calculate doses, or set clinical glucose targets. Your veterinarian decides treatment. For an urgent pet-health concern, contact a veterinarian or emergency veterinary service immediately.
